They vary from rugged power sweeping brushes used for cleaning roads and factory floors to fine horse hair brushes for polishing fruit. And from rotary brushes to rigid strip brushes.

All brushes come in a wide range of filaments (bristles) and sizes. Filaments include – polypropylene, nylon, polyethylene, polyester, various types of animal hair and wire.

Brushes are also classed according to their manufacturing process. They can be formed in straight or twisted strips, with bristles punched and stapled into HDPE cores, moulded into polyurethane bases or with wire clamped into metal bases.
